What are the responsibilities and job description for the Artist in Residence position at San Dieguito Union High School District?
SB 848 COMPLIANCE – EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2026
Effective January 1, 2026, and in accordance with California Education Code Section 44051(a)(1), any
applicant for a non-teaching position must disclose a complete list of every school district, county office
of education, charter school, state special school and diagnostic center operated by the department of
education, and private school that the applicant has previously been an employee of, including full-time,
part-time, or substitute roles. Failure to provide this information may be considered an act of
dishonesty and could affect hiring decisions.
Artist in Residence
Artists in Residence have a specialized talent and skill in one of the arts, such as dance, theater, music, literary or visual arts. Artists in Residence work with middle school or high school students, sharing their knowledge in an art form, build art-making skills, and encourage the creative process. Artists in Residence present art programs, understand and adapt to the learning needs of a diverse student population, and work collaboratively with others.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge, expertise, and passion for the visual or performing art through your professional artistic practice.
Can work collaboratively in a school environment and with various school community constituents.
Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills with students and teachers.
Adapt to a wide range of teaching conditions.
Have reliable and consistent means of communication and transportation.
Open until filled.
Artists in Residence may be required to lift, push, pull, or carry art supplies, equipment, instruments, and classroom furniture weighing up to 40 lbs. Must also bend, twist, reach, stand, and/or sit for extended periods of time.
Salary : $25 - $35
