What are the responsibilities and job description for the Zund Operator position at San Diego Sign Company/ d.b.a WS Display?

Job Overview:
The primary role of the Zund Operator will be to effectively and efficiently operate digital cutting hardware and software
to produce finished goods or items that are ready for further assembly or finishing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to operate, and maintain a large format cutting table.
- Ability to understand, use, and properly use the cutting software.
- Understand quality requirements of jobs being produced and work to achieve quality standards.
- Constantly develop knowledge of the Cutter Operator process.
- Control work-flow scheduling or job tracking, using computer database software.
- Download and examine job orders to define quantities of work load.
- Maintain time or production records as needed.
- Monitor environmental factors, like humidity and temperature, that may impact equipment performance and make necessary adjustments.
- Demonstrate pride in their work and have a good eye for detail in the RIPing and printing process.
- Willingness to abide by department and production practices.
- Work effectively as a member of a team.
- Ability to adapt to a constantly changing work situation and assume personal responsibility for your own actions.
- Available to work a flexible work schedule especially during our busy season months including ability to work the average amount of overtime for this position, and meet shift rotation requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels on a regular basis, ordering or requesting additional supplies, as necessary.
- Perform related duties and participate in special projects as assigned by the supervisor.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Perform math calculations including percent and fractions. Ability to use a ruler.
- Visually identify width, height and depth.
- Basic typing skills to assist in the use of the computer.
- Read, comprehend and act from detailed written communication in various formats.
- Visually distinguish color accurately and identify print defects.
- Able to learn from hands on training
- Detail oriented when looking at prints
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external personnel
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently required to lift and carry 10–67 lbs and occasionally lift items up to 100 lbs or more using approved team-lift procedures.
- Ability to engage in prolonged standing, typically 8–12 hours per shift, with scheduled and legally required breaks.
- Ability to safely and effectively perform all essential job functions, meeting required performance standards.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
