Reports to: Production Manager

First Shift - 8:30a-5:00p (tenative)
*Hours subject to change with business needs, as we are a production based company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Starts and operates or tends machines that automatically join, or reinforce fabricated articles.
- Draws thread through guides, tensions, and needles and adjusts machine functions, according to fabric type.
- Positions and guides item under needle and presser foot, using marks on machine, clamp or template, edges of cloth, or markings on cloth as guides to sew.
- Observes sewing machine operation to detect defects in stitching or machine malfunction, and notifies supervisor.
- Attaches tape, trim, or velcro to specified items according to item specifications.
- Performs basic daily, weekly and monthly maintenance including oiling and cleaning machine.
- Records number of garment parts or complete garments sewn.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Sewing experience (Required)
- Knowledge of various sewing machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance
- Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
- Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents
- The ability to correctly follow verbal and written work instructions.
Education:
- High School Diploma/GED (Preferred)
Physical Requirements:
- Turns knobs, screws, and dials to adjust settings of machine, according to garment style and observation of operation.
- Ability to frequently lift 10-25 lbs.
- The ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists
- Using one's own hands and arms in handling, installing, forming, positioning, and moving materials, or in manipulating things, including the use of keyboards.
