Position Summary
The Zip Line Facilitator supports the safe and exciting operation of Camp Bashors high-adventure zip line as part of the camps COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) program. This position focuses on participant safety, equipment management, and delivering a positive adventure experience consistent with Scouting Americas National Camp Standards.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Operate the zip line in compliance with Scouting America COPE and Climbing Standards.

Perform safety inspections of the zip line, harnesses, helmets, and belay systems.

Conduct participant briefings on safety procedures, proper equipment use, and course rules.

Assist with course setup, maintenance, and documentation of inspections.

Monitor participant progress and ensure adherence to safety protocols.

Maintain professionalism and promote Scouting values at all times.

Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other camp duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum age: 18 (required).

Prior experience with ropes course, climbing, or adventure facilitation preferred.

Ability to work at heights and in outdoor environments for extended periods.

Strong communication and leadership skills with a focus on safety and teamwork.

Positive attitude and commitment to youth development and outdoor education.
Required Certifications
COPE/Climbing Instructor Training(s):

Scouting America National Camping School (NCS) COPE Director or COPE Instructor Level 1, 2, or higher (preferred but training available.) OR
-
Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) Certified Challenge Course Manager, Practitioner Certification Level 1, 2, or higher. OR

Professional Ropes Course Association (PRCA) Qualified Instructor Level 1 or 2
First Aid / CPR / AED Certification required (current within 12 months).
Belay and Rescue Techniques Training preferred but training available.
