Position: Elementary General Studies Teacher
Salary: $300 daily rate
Hours: 11 am - 4 pm M-Th, 10:30 - 2:30 pm F
Start Date: April 13, 2026 (47 school days)
Reports To: Head of School, Principal & Director of Instruction and Curriculum

Position Overview
The Elementary General Studies Teacher will serve as the lead teacher, working alongside our Hebrew and Judaic teachers to design engaging, purposeful, and developmentally appropriate curriculum in partnership with the grade-level team. This teacher will be stepping into the role to cover for a teacher who will not be returning from maternity leave and will lead the class through the remainder of the current school year. An assistant teacher will be assigned to support classroom instruction and student needs.
The Elementary General Studies Teacher will be responsible for teaching reading, writing, language, speaking & listening, math, social studies, and science. The teacher should be collaborative, team-oriented, and skilled in using data to tailor instruction to meet students' academic, social, and emotional needs. Our goal is for this teacher to provide clear, skill-based instruction aligned with California grade-level standards for literacy.
The Elementary General Studies Teacher will also be expected to implement differentiated instruction to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners, including students who require additional support as well as those who benefit from advanced academic enrichment. The teacher will collaborate with school leadership and the learning support team to support a developing enrichment and gifted learning program that encourages deeper inquiry, creativity, and advanced skill development.
As part of the role, the teacher will be encouraged to plan and implement a culminating showcase event, providing students with the opportunity to present their learning to parents and celebrate their growth over the course of the year.
Qualifications
The Elementary General Studies Teacher is expected to have:
- A minimum of two years of experience teaching
- BA/BS or higher degree (required) with a major in one or more of the following areas:
Curriculum, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Content Area (Language Arts,
Reading, Early Childhood Education, or similar).
- Multi-Subject Teaching Certification - From any state (does not have to be California)
- Be a highly collaborative, results-oriented, adaptable, problem-solving self-starter.
- Experience in standards-based curriculum planning.
- Be positive, thoughtful, passionate, motivating, and empowering with students.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Be computer savvy, with proficiency in email, word processing, spreadsheets, Google Docs, etc
