Position Summary:

The position of VP, Branch Manager is responsible for all activities of a full service branch office of the Credit Union, including managing, leading, and providing administrative guidance to all team members. Responsible for achieving all established performance initiatives and maintaining quality service standards set by the organization.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum four years of professional experience in operations in the financial services industry, including two years successfully supervising and managing branch staff and programs in a financial institution.
  • Demonstrated success in planning, organizing, leading and oversight of people and activities.
  • Professional and effective interaction, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organization skills sufficient to successfully manage multiple projects, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Track record of applying critical thinking and emotional intelligence skills in a wide variety of situations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all activity of a branch office of the Credit Union.
  • Possess strong relationship management skills; including coaching to performance, leading team and management meetings, one on ones, observations and skill building to improve employee effectiveness; generates new business through business development, branch marketing efforts and off-site participation.
  • Coordinate the hiring, training, coaching, supervision and performance evaluations of all branch personnel; also responsible for employee counseling, documentation, and dismissal; hold consistent staff meetings and ensure staff is updated on changes in policy and procedures; ensure staff is thoroughly trained in all Credit Union products and services. Initiate ongoing cross-training of all branch personnel. Provide guidance and leadership to staff and assist staff with improving performance. Maintain high morale and teamwork within the branch.
  • Maintain good member relations; assure problems/complaints by members are resolved quickly and accurately; authorize exceptions to operating procedure when circumstances warrant and deviation is justified. Assist members as necessary, including acting as an FSR or MSR, as needed. Ensure quality member service standards are maintained within the branch.
  • Oversee the integrity of loan audits and the review of various loan reports. Have an awareness of the current financial market and its effect on loan and deposit products.
  • Responsible for ensuring staff complete required fundamental training as well as continuous learning activities to support skill development. Responsible for overall performance of the branch. Plan, direct and lead the business development activities in accordance with the Credit Union's strategic and corporate goals.
  • Responsible for proper control and maintenance of negotiable items to ensure members' needs are met while safeguarding the Credit Union's assets.
  • Monitor daily branch balancing, general ledger accounts and branch reports/accounts for accuracy and audit conformity. Principally responsible for ensuring that operational policies and procedures are being implemented and followed and that prudent judgment is being utilized while meeting members’ needs.
  • Act as Security Officer of the branch; ensure branch staff is fully trained on all security and emergency procedures; oversee consistent daily compliance of branch security as indicated in the Operations Manual and by internal audit.
  • Control branch expenses in accordance with branch budget. Prepare recommendations and justification for use in annual budgetary process.
  • Responsible for making recommendations to promote professional appearance of branch, building and grounds. This includes annual budgetary requests.
  • Encourage and support the development of the Assistant Branch Manager through consistent use of both in-house and outside training resources.
  • Suggest and encourage ideas for improvements to Credit Union functions.
  • Ensure branch cooperation, respect and teamwork with other branches and departments.
  • Participate in AML/BSA compliance training as assigned. Adhere to credit union AML/BSA policy and procedures including CTR rules and form preparation, identify and refer suspicious activity to the Compliance Department, perform OFAC comparisons, and properly identify individuals in accordance with Branch Operations procedures.
  • Provide managerial oversight of the activities for areas of responsibility, including assigned staff and functional deliverables of the team.
  • Demonstrate leadership in words and actions on a daily basis; act as role model for success and engagement. Create a positive work environment conducive to trust and transparency.
  • Responsible for the performance management of staff, to include daily feedback, coaching and mentoring; administration of appraisals that are timely and meaningful. Identify and address deficiencies constructively. Continually support, encourage and motivate team members toward ongoing growth and development.
  • Consult with Human Resources (HR) on issues outside of the normal scope of performance or behavior. Report all issues of safety or legal consequence immediately and surface undesirable patterns as they are discovered. Partner with HR on all employment decisions, and refer requests for changes in terms or scheduling to the HR department.
  • Monitor approved schedules, review and approve timesheets of staff, and ensure all expenses are reported as per company policy. Schedule and provide staff the opportunity for meal and rest breaks, while ensuring operational coverage is maintained.

  • May serve on ad hoc committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Saturday – 8:00am/5:00pm (Rotating)
Sunday – OFF
Full time - 40 hours
