SUMMARY: Under general supervision supports teachers and principals in the advancement of academic achievement of all students, and especially of those children at risk of not achieving at a proficient level on the State and District Standards.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Assists Principal/District with the integration of curriculum and implementation of Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) model.
  • Provides individual coaching, follow-up coaching and modeling to insure District/site-provided staff development is practiced in the classroom.
  • Provides demonstration lessons in the classrooms which represent District and school professional development initiatives.
  • Teams with teachers to increase opportunities for success for all students in meeting grade level standards and promotion requirements.
  • Provides staff with alternative strategies to accommodate varying students’ learning styles.
  • Collaborates with teachers and other instructional staff to develop curriculum materials and specific lesson plans that integrate technology. Models the integration of technology in all curriculum areas.
  • Locates or develops supplementary materials needed to provide appropriate instruction for students.
  • Assists District/site with curriculum, instruction and assessment planning, as needed.
  • Participates at District/site level to assure communication and articulation across grade levels is served.
  • Assists principal with staff development.
  • Collaborates with District Assessment Office on implementation of all school, state and national assessments (formative, benchmark, Advanced Placement, Cambridge).
  • Assists principal with data analysis and submitting timely and necessary local, state and federal reports, as needed.
  • Completes other duties as assigned or required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or closely related field; AND five (5) years of teaching experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

 

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Arizona Teaching Certificate.
  • Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card

  

Required Knowledge of:

  • State and District testing requirements and standards.
  • Principles and practices of effective project management, leadership, supervision, and training.
  • SIOP instructional practices and methods of classroom teaching and management.
  • Core and intervention curriculum and materials.
  • Adult/child and adult/adult learning theories.

 

Required Skills in:

  • Development and implementation of curriculum and performance based assessments.
  • Committee facilitation.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely.
  • Operating a personal computer utilizing standard software such as Microsoft Office and some specialized software; functioning standard office equipment.
  • Understanding lesson planning using the District lesson plan template.
  • Analyzing and interpreting testing programs and data.
  • Practicing methods involved in providing quality customer service.

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.

Salary : $43,157 - $56,626
