SCHOOL SUPPORT TECHNICIAN
SALARY: $5,764.00 to $7,024.00 Monthly (Range 81)
LENGTH OF SERVICE: 260 Days/12 Months per Year

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The School Support Technician is directly supervised by the school principal and is the support for the principal and the staff. The School Support Technician performs advanced-level office functions in support of the department. This position handles the day-to-day operation of the principal’s office, coordinating various projects, events and workshops as well as monitoring budgets. The School Support Technician also performs a wide variety of complex duties related to the maintenance and release of student transcripts, student records and student grade reports according to established laws, rules, and regulations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Establishes and maintains student records, filing systems, spreadsheets, calendars, transcripts, student grade reports, supplies;
· Oversees the maintenance of student records and grade reports into a computerized data system;
· Receives mail, equipment deliveries, and telephone calls and takes appropriate action;
· Schedules IEP or other meetings;
· Prepares and processes various documents and forms (e.g. transportation requests, time sheets, purchase orders, personnel requisitions and other forms);
· Assists in the maintenance of the budget and the development of financial records;
· Develops and prepares correspondences, bulletins, forms, reports, minutes, handbooks, manuals, presentations, and other written materials;
· Coordinates office workflow, meetings, and events;
· Oversees students/substitute workers in the office, including sick, injured, and non-deliverable students;
· Provides information and assistance to SBCSS and district personnel, members of the public and employees of other agencies;
· Collaborates with Student Services management regarding the archiving of student records;
· Releases student records to a variety of agencies including local school districts, Department of Human Services, the Probation Department, colleges and universities, branches of military and other approved agencies;
· Verifies records for student release;
· Processes students for graduation and maintains graduation database;
· Processes individual transition plans for students exiting from high school;
· Maintains a variety of other records and spreadsheets;
· Communicates with parents regarding programs, student transportation, student illness and other matters;
· Provides information to teachers, students, and the public;
· Performs related duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience maintaining student transcripts, student records and/or student grade reports; maintaining department budgets and other financial records; preparing correspondence and reports; maintaining spreadsheets;
Skill using standard office equipment (computer, typewriter, printer, fax, calculator, etc.);
Knowledge of record management systems; laws and regulations pertaining to student transcripts; student records and student grade reports;
Ability to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines; review and analyze data; balance various assignments and priorities; apply rules and regulations pertaining to student transcripts, student records and student grade reports; utilize computerized record management systems; accurately and efficiently process work; establish and maintain effective, positive interpersonal relationships; work and communicate effectively with a variety of individuals and groups; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; travel to various locations;
Physical Abilities include sitting and standing for extended periods, reaching, fine manual dexterity, pulling, pushing, talking/hearing, and near and far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field of vision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Two (2) years experience maintaining electronic student records;
- One (1) year experience maintaining spreadsheets;
- One (1) year experience maintaining department budgets and other financial records;
- Possession of a high school diploma (or its equivalency) or higher or possession of a GED.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience maintaining student transcripts and/or student grade reports;
- One (1) year experience in a California school district or County Schools Office;
