The Public Works Department is recruiting for a Public Works Operations Supervisor who plan, direct, and supervise work crews involved in the construction, maintenance, repair and inspection of roads, flood control channels, landfill facilities, and landscaping projects.

Availability: Incumbents are subject to periodic after hour and emergency calls.
Pre-Employment Process: Incumbent must successfully complete a background check prior to appointment.
Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of liability insurance must be produced and maintained during the course of employment.
Physical: Frequent sitting, standing; occasional walking, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, crawling, turning, balancing; requires power and precision grasping.
Work Conditions: Frequently exposed to electricity, chemicals, fire, heat, oil, odors, dust, gas, hazardous materials, and noise. Works on rough and uneven terrain, and exposure to extreme temperature or humidity.
Sponsorship: Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
Minimum Requirements
EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of full-time equivalent experience in the maintenance or construction of roadways or flood control facilities, or landfill facilities which includes two (2) years of full-scope supervision directing and supervising the work of equipment operators and construction workers. (NOTE: Lead work experience and building construction experience will not be considered qualifying.)

- Inspecting prospective job sites and landfill operations
- Directing work crews to perform road striping and painting, sidewalk, ramp, and road repair
- Directing the work of equipment operators in the excavation and grading of flood channels, basins, and levees
- Investigating and correcting hazardous conditions such as sand, debris, and snow removal from roads
- Interact with the public and other agencies and investigate constituent concerns or complaints
- Assigning and evaluating work, writing employee evaluations, conducting investigations of incidents
