San Bernardino County is recruiting for Fiscal Specialists who perform complex fiscal duties which may include the following: review, audit, and prepare accounting documents; process payments, invoices, billings, reimbursements, credit card statements, and claims; maintain accounting or fiscal records; prepare fiscal and statistical reports; and collect, distribute and allocate funds to correct accounts.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
The eligible list established by this recruitment may also be used to fill vacancies in the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District and Special Districts Department. Applicants will be asked to indicate their availability and preference for referral to the different agencies in the Supplemental Questionnaire.
The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District and Special Districts Department are separate entities from San Bernardino County, and as such, compensation and benefits for their positions are set forth in a different compensation plan.
The salary for San Bernardino County Fire Protection District (Fiscal Specialist is $21.47 - $29.61 hourly (range 18)). For additional details, refer to the Fire Auxiliary Services Unit MOU and Benefits Summary .
The salary for Special Districts (Fiscal Specialist is $21.44 - $31.08 hourly (range 18)). For additional details, refer to the Non-Represented Employee Compensation Plan and Benefits Summary .
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, credit check, and/or medical exam, prior to appointment. For the Probation and Sheriff's Departments, positions require extensive background investigations, including polygraph testing. If you are interested in these departments, indicate your availability on the Supplemental Questionnaire.
Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
Minimum Requirements
CANDIDATES MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING OPTION REQUIREMENTS:
OPTION 1
EXPERIENCE: Must possess eighteen (18) months of full-time equivalent fiscal work experience reviewing, reconciling, and maintaining fiscal/accounting records as the primary function of the job.
Education Substitution: Six (6) semester (9 quarter) units of c ompleted college level accounting coursework may be substituted for up to six (6) months of the required experience. ( Transcripts MUST be attached if you do not possess a completed Associate degree (or higher) in related field.)
NOTE: General office/clerical experience is not considered qualifying fiscal work experience.
OPTION 2
EDUCATION: Must possess a completed Bachelor's degree in mathematics, accounting/finance, or closely related field. (Education must be clearly indicated in the Education section of the Application.)
IMPORTANT NOTES: All work experience and education information must be clearly detailed and demonstrated on the application AND supplemental questionnaire to ensure qualifications are properly considered (resumes are not reviewed). All information must be current and up to date.
EDUCATION Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. The ideal candidate will have excellent math/fiscal skills as well as the ability to operate a computer, applicable software, and a variety of office machines to enter and retrieve data and produce and/or process a variety of documents and reports. The ideal candidate will also excel working in team settings and enjoy collaborating with existing fiscal/accounting staff .
