What are the responsibilities and job description for the Federal Work Study - Student Ambassador position at San Bernardino Community College District?
San Bernardino Community College District accepts applications for Federal Work Study, hourly positions for our Crafton Hills College) on a continuous basis. However, this does not imply the department is actively recruiting for this position. If there is an interest and/or need within the specific department, applicants who meet the requirements will be contacted by the respective department manager. Applications submitted will remain active for up to one (1) year.Â
Under general supervision of the Outreach Coordinator, assists with outreach activities and events on and off-campus.
Student worker will assist in providing program related general support and assistance to faculty, staff, and students during class/lab activities. Must have the ability to work with a diverse student population.
Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting.

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to occasionally lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 25 pounds; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; and to operate assigned equipment.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.

The person selected for hire will be required to complete the following pre-employment requirements:
Under general supervision of the Outreach Coordinator, assists with outreach activities and events on and off-campus.

- Assisting with individual and group campus tours.
- Assisting with staff coverage at mall outreach booth.
- Assisting prospective students with inquiries at outreach events.
- Assist with helping prospective and current students at navigate the opportunities available on campus.
- Assist with staffing outreach booths and college fairs at local feeder high schools and community events.
- Assist with passing out information about and answers questions about the college's admissions process.
- Ambassadors will be required to do some traveling off campus.
- Other duties as assigned
- Student must have in possession of a Federal Work Study award letter for the current academic year
- Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
- Student cannot fall below half-time (6 units) during their employment under the FWS program. Â
- Student must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units
- Minimum of 2.5 GPA and 12 units of college coursework (ESL courses and basic courses can apply), have an educational plan on file, and be in good academic standing.
- Student must have a current TB
- Prior to being hired, candidates must complete live scan (fingerprinting).
- Ability to follow directions in order to carry out the duties as assigned
- Familiarity with various equipment/tools used in the program and/or have completed some courses in the specific program or related fields.Â
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
- Prior leadership and/or community service experience demonstrated skills in interpersonal communication, and the ability to effectively relate with people of diverse cultural, social, and educational backgrounds.Â
- Must be comfortable with public speaking, working with children, and representing our San Bernardino community.Â
- Must have an interest in working with the K-12 student population.
