Job Summary
Responsible for preparation of all food items for patients, cafeteria and catering functions, as specified, following control standards. Follow department established policies and procedures. Responsible for sanitation of general working area and following compliance regulations for food preparation. Other related duties as assigned.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Prepare food according to standardized recipes, production charts, and menus.

• Ensure the preservation of nutritional value, flavor, and texture during food preparation.

• Monitor and maintain proper food temperatures, adhere to diet specifications, and control portion sizes.

• Present food with attention to visual appeal and appropriate service placement.

• Maintain a clean and orderly work area, following sanitation practices to prevent contamination.

• Adhere to county health and state regulations regarding food safety and storage.

• Uphold personal hygiene standards, including wearing appropriate attire, using specified handwashing techniques, and covering hair in food production/service areas.

• Perform dishwashing and ware washing activities in compliance with state and county regulations.

• Conduct work according to safety guidelines, demonstrating personal awareness to others and report all safety hazards to department management promptly.

• Ensure punctuality and maintain regular attendance.

• Provide excellent service to co-workers and customers alike.

• All other duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Thorough knowledge of hot and cold food preparation.

• Ability to prepare quantity foods following standardized recipes, production chart and menus.

• Comprehensive knowledge of modified textured and therapeutic diets.

• Ability to identify and correct food safety and sanitation concerns.

• Physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

• Motor skills including hand eye coordination and ability to lift up to 35 pounds.

• Working knowledge of customer service and menu planning.

Education and Experience:

• High School Graduate or Equivalent preferred

• California Food Handler’s Card or Managers Serv-Safe Certification required

• 2 years of experience in a related field preparing specialized diets.

Job Type: Full-time, Variable Shift

Pay: $29.00 - $40.00/hour
