What are the responsibilities and job description for the P-TECH Director position at San Augustine Independent School District?
Note: This will be a grant-funded position
Reports to: Superintendent
Primary Purpose:
Provide leadership, coordination, and oversight for the district's P-TECH program. Ensure a successful implementation of early college pathways that integrate high school, post-secondary education, and workforce experiences, enabling students to earn college credits, industry-based certifications, and workforce-ready skills.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Master's degree preferred (Education, Leadership, Workforce Development, or related field)
- P-TECH leadership training (or willingness to complete)
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years in education (teaching or administration)
- Experience with dual credit, CTE programs, or early college high school initiatives
- Experience working with business/industry partnerships preferred.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Implementation
- Develop, implement, and sustain the P-TECH model aligned with State guidelines
- Ensure fidelity to P-TECH blueprint components (college, career, and workforce alignment)
- Lead strategic planning and continuous program improvement
Program Development:
- Build and maintain partnerships with Institutions of Higher Education & Business and industry partners
- Coordinate articulation agreements, internships, job shadowing, and mentorships
Student Success & Support:
- Monitor students toward dual credit completion, industry-based certifications, and post-secondary readiness.
- Ensure equitable access and support fr all students, especially the underserved populations.
Curriculum & Instruction Oversight:
- Collaborate with high school and college faculty to align curriculum
- Support integration of academic and technical instruction
- Ensure rigor and relevance of coursework
Compliance & Accountability:
- Ensure compliance with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) P-TECH requirements
- Facilitate ongoing professional development aligned to program goals
Community & Stakeholder:
- Promote the P-TECH program within the community
- Communicate program goals, progress, and successes to stakeholders
- Recruit & retain students in the program
Budget & Resource Management:
- Manage program budgets, grants, and resources
- Seek additional funding opportunities to sustain and expand the program
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May supervise P-TECH teachers, counselors, and support staff
- Coordinate with campus principals and district leadership
Working Conditions:
- Occasional travel for meetings, trainings, and partnership development
- Extended work hours may be required for events and coordination
Evaluation:
- Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district policy and P-TECH program outcomes.
Salary:
- Based on the district pay scale and experience
