Position
SAS has an opening for a Purchasing Manager, who provides leadership and direction for all procurement activities by demonstrating integrity and ethics in all business transactions.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitors all aspects of the purchasing transaction to ensure appropriate financial, budgetary, legal and other cross-functional reviews and approvals, as required.
- Provides input and recommendations on department procedures, budgets and plans.
- Supervise and provide leadership, coaching, guidance, training and staff development.
- Leads, plans, and directs the work for the assigned buyer group and associated supply chain specialist
- Utilize ERP system to maintain accurate, real-time tracking of purchase orders and receipt of goods and services
- Implement improvements to existing purchasing strategies, policies and procedure.
- Handle contract negotiations with vendors and suppliers
- Monitor inventory, determining purchasing needs and controlling cost.
- Able to do data research, data analysis and deliver presentations.
- Reviews and approves requests for quotation’s to suppliers for new and existing materials and services
- Other duties as required.
Job Qualifications
- Understanding of cost management and supply chain risk control.
- Bachelor degree in Business or related field of study
- Ten or more years of progressively responsible experience in a purchasing function at a managerial level, including three or more years’ experience negotiating contracts.
- Ability to schedule and manage projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to meet fixed deadlines and manage under pressure
- Experience with ERP systems. Microsoft A/X a plus.
- Possess proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft: Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook. Other software knowledge would be considered a plus.
- Contract management skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
- Must be able to sit or stand for 8 – 10 hours.
