JOB SUMMARY:
The Custodial Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of assigned facilities and surrounding grounds. Performs routine custodial tasks and supports facility operations, including event setup and breakdown, while delivering strong customer service.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform routine custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing, and trash removal in offices, restrooms, break rooms, hallways, entryways, and exterior areas.
- Set up and break down rooms for events and activities; respond to facility needs, including last-minute changes.
- Provide set up, tear down and cleaning after activities. Respond to requests, last-minute needs, unscheduled events, changes, etc. regarding building use.
- Move and set up furniture and equipment as requested.
- Inspect facilities for cleanliness and safety; report maintenance issues or hazardous conditions to the supervisor.
- Secure the facility by locking doors and windows and monitoring building safety throughout the shift.
- Monitor inventory and restock cleaning supplies in designated areas.
- Ensure proper use, identification, mixture and application of chemicals, including the requirements and use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Perform special cleaning and assist with renovation projects.
- Operate and maintain custodial equipment; assist with floor care, deep cleaning, and special projects as needed.
- Respond as essential personnel in case of an emergency, weather or environmental event, and/or facility closure.
- Maintain basic records related to cleaning and supply usage.
- Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate protective equipment.
- Remove snow and ice from walkways as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned..

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or the equivalent required.
- At least one year of custodial experience preferred.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and products.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently with a sense of urgency.
- Demonstrates professionalism, reliability, and integrity.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift, carry and move items weighing at least 35 pounds to 50 pounds (with or without assistance)
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching to clean low and high surfaces
- Ability to push and pull custodial equipment such as carts, mops, vacuums, and floor machines
- Ability to climb ladders or step stools to access elevated areas when needed
- Tolerance for exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and varying indoor/outdoor environmental conditions
