General Description:  

This position leads and oversees a major portion of the Food Bank’s fundraising effort. The primary objective is to lead the Philanthropy Team in effectively planning, developing, and implementing a fundraising plan for major donors (ind, corps, orgs) including, but not limited to, the identification, cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and tracking of such donors. The Director of Philanthropy oversees several staff members.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan to engage major donors that meets planned expectations and goals of the organization, as determined by the CEO and CDO.
  • Working closely with the CDO to design and implement a strategic vision for SAFB to identify, solicit and cultivate relationships with major donors.
  • Lead the strategic oversight, philanthropy goals setting and management of the SAFB philanthropy department including new and established portfolios, signature events, third party events, seasonal fundraising campaigns, food and fund drives.
  • Lead/Assist in the preparation of written materials, including correspondence, solicitation materials, acknowledgements, and regular communications for major gifts donors.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a high functioning team; hire, train, mentor, supervise, and evaluate staff of Philanthropy Managers, Special Events Manager, Food and Fund Drive Coordinator, and Interfaith Engagement Manager.
  • Monitor and report key metrics, generate reports, and make recommendations to enhance philanthropy performance.
  • Manage the philanthropy team in the use of Salesforce daily.
  • Collaborate with the Development teams to staff donor events, meet and greet with major giving donors and prospects.
  • Serve as liaison to donors, prospects, and partners, including representing Food Bank at national, regional, and local meetings as well as engage in face-to-face tours and presentations.
  • Build strong internal cross-departmental relationships across the Food Bank.
  • Advocate internally for policies and procedures that enhance donor experience.
  • Comply with all policies and guidelines and accept additional duties as assigned by the CDO.
Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or a relevant field or equivalent related work experience. Master’s or Certifications preferred.
  • Progressive experience (5 years) in fund development.
  • Proven success in securing 6 figure major gifts from individuals, corporations, or foundations.
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience of full-time paid development staff and leading teams.
  • Strength in hiring, recruiting, managing, developing, coaching, and retaining individuals and teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise others and delegate appropriate tasks.
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence to connect with
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, and advanced Excel skills.
  • Expert-level knowledge in CRM or database management. Salesforce preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in budget management, forecasting, and financial modeling of fundraising goals.
  • Proven ethical fundraising standards, good judgment, and discretion.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to organize work, time, and self.
  • Orientation to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate, advise, and influence anyone from staff to community leaders.
  • Superior presentation skills.
  • Ability to present a professional demeanor under a variety of conditions.
  • Night and weekend work is required and routine.
  • Ability to travel as needed; reliable transportation required.
  • Possession of a current Texas driver's license, liability insurance and a clean driving record.
