Outside working hours if other than M-F 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.: Monday - Friday 8a-5p. The Director may have extended hours on occasion until 10:30p and weekends 8a-5p.
Job Summary and Description
Responsible for the coordination, administration, and operation of the Fire Academy program. Provides leadership and assumes responsibility for evaluation of the Fire Academy program continuing education curricula as required by various licensing and accrediting agencies.
Position manages Fire Academy, Fire Technology, Emergency Management and Homeland Security.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science or related field.
- Ten years of experience serving as a TCFP or International Fire Services Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) Firefighter with a record of increasingly broader scope of responsibilities.
- Three years’ teaching experience in a Fire Science Program or Academy.
- Must meet requirements for “Training Coordinator or Director” according to Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) regulations.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Masters in Fire Science or related fields.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Must possess and maintain a valid, current, and active Instructor and Firefighter Certification issued by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP).
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver license. Must be insurable through the organization’s insurers.
Motor Vehicle Report is required in addition to background check and drug screen
