Role Description
San Antonio Academy of Texas is seeking a dedicated, compassionate and qualified full-time school nurse to provide health services to students during the school year and during the summer camp sessions. The School Nurse is responsible for promoting the health, safety, and well-being of students on campus. This full-time, on-site position located in San Antonio, TX, involves administering first aid, managing student medications, maintaining health records, and monitoring and addressing health-related incidents. The nurse will also play a key role in educating the school community on health practices, assisting with the development of school health policies, and collaborating with staff to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff as needed.
- Administer daily medications and manage chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes).
- Monitor and address health-related issues and concerns that may arise.
- Maintain accurate student health records and documentation.
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and healthcare providers regarding student health needs.
- Ensure compliance with state and district health regulations and protocols.
- Assist in managing any health-related emergencies or situations.
Qualifications
- Valid RN (Registered Nurse) license in Texas.
- Previous experience working as a school nurse or in a pediatric healthcare setting preferred, not required.
- Strong knowledge of child/adolescent health, CPR, first aid, and emergency care procedures.
- Ability to handle sensitive health information with discretion.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
