What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Applications Specialist position at Samuels & Son Seafood C?
Business Applications Specialist
Samuels Seafood Company
About Us
At Samuels Seafood Company, we move fast, solve real problems, and build systems that help teams do their best work. As we continue modernizing our operations, we’re investing in practical, scalable technology [including emerging tools like AI] and, more importantly, in people who can turn complexity into clarity.
We’re looking for a Business Applications Specialist who thrives in dynamic environments, communicates clearly across teams, and takes ownership from idea to execution.
The Role
This role sits at the intersection of people, process, and technology. You’ll work closely with teams across the business to understand how work actually gets done, then help design, implement, and improve systems that make that work easier, faster, and more reliable.
You don’t need to be a lifelong IT professional. You do need to be curious, analytical, and comfortable figuring things out as you go, including exploring how tools like AI can be thoughtfully applied to real business challenges.
This is a hands-on, get-it-done role for someone who enjoys solving messy problems and seeing their work make an immediate impact.
What You’ll Do
• Partner with business teams to understand challenges, workflows, and goals
• Translate real-world business needs into practical system solutions
• Lead and support the implementation of business applications and ERP tools from start to finish
• Configure systems, test solutions, support data migration, and help users adopt new tools
• Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and drive improvements—not just fixes
• Explore and evaluate opportunities to use automation and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and decision-making
• Work comfortably in situations where requirements evolve and answers aren’t always clear
• Document processes, decisions, and workflows in a way others can actually use
• Train and support users with varying levels of technical comfort
What We’re Looking For
We care more about how you think and work than your exact background.
You might be a great fit if you:
• Are a strong communicator who can explain complex ideas simply
• Enjoy solving problems and taking ownership through completion
• Are comfortable working in fast-moving, high-ambiguity environments
• Can balance big-picture thinking with hands-on execution
• Are naturally curious, especially about how AI and emerging technologies can be applied in practical, responsible ways
• Enjoy learning new systems, tools, and processes
• Have experience mapping or improving business processes
• Can collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teammates
Background & Experience
• Experience working with business systems, applications, or ERP tools is helpful, but not required
• Exposure to ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Deacom, or similar) is a plus
• Familiarity with automation tools, reporting platforms, or AI-enabled business applications is a bonus, not a requirement
• Basic technical literacy (systems, data, integrations, or reporting) is useful, but you don’t need to be a developer
• Degrees in business, engineering, information systems—or equivalent real-world experience—are all welcome
• SQL, scripting, or integration experience is a bonus, not a requirement
If you're passionate about transforming business operations through technology and thrive in dynamic environments, we’d love to hear from you.
