Samuels & Associates has an opening for an experienced, reliable, and customer-focused Leasing Consultant to join our Dot Block community in Dorchester.

What You’ll Do

The Leasing Consultant is one of the first people new residents meet and the one who helps them feel at home after they have moved in.

In this role, the Leasing Consultant will handle everything from showing apartments and walking prospects through the leasing process, to following up, handling paperwork, and helping make move-ins smooth.

This role will also play a vital role in resident retention and satisfaction by building relationships, encouraging renewals, and fostering a sense of community.  

The Leasing Consultant is essential to the rest of the on-site team by supporting marketing efforts and working closely with the General Manager and Assistant General Manager to ensure high occupancy and smooth property operations.  

Key Responsibilities

Resident Interaction/Customer Service:

  • Greet residents and visitors with professionalism and a friendly attitude.
  • Handle all forms of inquiries from residents and potential residents (email, phone, in-person, etc)
  • Resolve resident complaints, escalating complex issues to the property manager when necessary.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with residents to promote retention

 Apartment Leasing:

  • Assist prospective residents in completing rental applications and lease agreements.
  • Review rental applications and background checks, ensuring they meet leasing criteria.
  • Prepare lease documentation, explain lease terms, and ensure compliance with legal requirements.

Marketing and Promotions:

  • Assist with property marketing efforts, including advertising vacancies online, in print, and via social media.
  • Participate in promotional events, open houses, or other marketing strategies to attract new residents.
  • Stay informed about local market trends to adjust strategy as needed.

Administrative and Record-Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate records of prospective residents, leasing activity, and current residents.
  • Process rent payments, deposits, and other financial transactions.
  • Update lease status, vacancies, and other relevant data in leasing systems.
  • Send updated and accurate reports to stakeholders as required.

Property Management Collaboration:

  • Work closely with property manager and maintenance teams to ensure units are ready for occupancy.
  • Coordinate move-in and move-outs, ensuring a smooth transition for residents.

Compliance and Legal Adherence:

  • Ensure all leasing processes and resident communications are compliant with fair housing laws and property regulations.
  • Understand and enforce building policies and resident rules.

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of leasing or property management experience in a multifamily, mixed-use, or comparable real estate environment.
  • Strong communication, sales, and customer service skills.
  • Proven ability to stay organized and manage priorities in a fast-moving workplace.
  • Experience using property management software (Yardi preferred) and CRM systems.
  • Weekend availability and flexibility for resident events or peak leasing periods.
