RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform and document all required safety inspections on cranes, tools, and personal protective equipment (PPE) prior to and throughout the shift.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, weld symbols, and job documentation to plan work and fabrication layouts.
- Inspect incoming materials and verify suitability at the start of each job; utilize materials efficiently to minimize waste.
- Perform TIG, MIG, and seam welding in accordance with NSI standards and applicable codes.
- Complete hand grinding and polishing to specified surface finishes.
- Continuously monitor and verify work quality; confirm procedures and requirements with the Plant Superintendent or Quality Control as needed.
- Accurately complete all required production, quality, and testing documentation.
- Safely operate, train on, and utilize overhead cranes, drill press, angle roll, plasma cutter, shears, hand tools, and other fabrication equipment as required.
- Conduct hydrostatic testing of vessels in accordance with established procedures.
- Prepare completed orders for shipment to electropolishing vendors and/or customers.
- Support other fabrication departments as business needs require.
EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of—or ability to be trained on—pneumatic and hydrostatic testing equipment.
- Proficient in the use of fillet, groove, and multi-purpose weld gauges.
- Understanding of general shop safety practices and housekeeping standards.
- Minimum one (1) year of TIG and MIG welding experience.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, job specifications, ASME codes, and weld symbols.
