What are the responsibilities and job description for the Representative, Inside Sales position at Samuel, Son & Co.?
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and grow customer accounts through proactive outreach, regular communication, and excellent service
- Identify opportunities for new business and expanded sales within the assigned territory
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Credit, Operations, Purchasing, etc.) to ensure smooth execution of orders and high customer satisfaction
- Conduct customer meetings and facility tours; maintain a regular cadence of check-ins
- Educate customers on the full range of Samuel products and services, highlighting value-added solutions
- Monitor aged inventory and support strategies to optimize turnover
- Track and report on sales activity, including monthly forecasts and territory performance updates
- Support Business Development on leads and participate in strategic sales planning
- Serve as backup for Inside Sales teammates as needed
- Travel as required within the assigned geography (WI/MN region)
- Occasional travel to customer and/or production sites, with adherence to safety protocols

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- 3 years of sales experience, ideally in industrial or metals sectors
- Previous buying or procurement experience is a plus
- Proven ability to manage customer relationships and deliver results
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regionally
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
