What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Prep Operator ($19 per hr) position at Samuel, Son & Co.?
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Associate performs all safety checks at the start of shift on all cranes and tools, documents as necessary and continues to perform safety checks throughout the shift.
- Read production work orders to determine type and quantity of materials required.
- Examine material received, verify part numbers, and check for discrepancies such as damaged or unmarked parts.
- Set up and process material on the Circle Shear, Punch Press, Square Shear, and Fiber Laser as required.
- Skid raw material steel per job in preparation for the metal spinning operations.
- Perform inspections using Quality Assurance procedures and work instructions.
- Assignments can change frequently from general cleaning, sorting parts, and general housekeeping.
EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:
- Proper operation of hoists and cranes in a safe manner and complete any training/safety program relating to the operation of the equipment.
- Operate company computer systems.
- Operate general hand tools.
- Operate shop floor equipment.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment to meet team expectations.
- Ability to understand and support company policies and procedures.
- Ability to understand and abide by all safety rules and regulations to perform the job.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Possess good communication and reasoning skills with the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions whether written or oral.
