Responsibilities
- Champion a zero-incident safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, company policies, PPE, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, forklift, overhead crane, hot metal, and confined hazard requirements.
- Conduct daily safety observations, audits, toolbox talks, incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and near-miss reviews. Exercise stop-work authority whenever unsafe conditions or behaviors exist.
- Ensure employees are properly trained, qualified, and following standardized work instructions before operating equipment.
- Lead daily production activities to achieve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, scrap, and cost objectives.
- Coordinate press, billet, die, puller, runout, stretcher, saw, material handling, and packing operations to maximize throughput and minimize downtime.
- Monitor KPIs including safety, OEE, productivity, recovery, scrap, downtime, labor efficiency, schedule attainment, and customer service.
- Troubleshoot process issues including surface defects, dimensional issues, die lines, twist, bow, stretch variation, and process instability.
- Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Planning to resolve equipment and process issues.
- Coach, train, and develop hourly employees and leads through performance feedback, accountability, and cross-training.
- Manage attendance, staffing, timekeeping, shift communication, and employee performance documentation.
- Ensure production records, inspections, and quality documentation are completed accurately.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, waste reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, operations management, business, or a related field.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of aluminum extrusion manufacturing experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role. Candidates without direct aluminum extrusion experience will not be considered.
- Comprehensive knowledge of extrusion presses, dies, billet heating, pullers, runout systems, quench systems, stretchers, saws, and downstream material flow.
- Strong understanding of extrusion process control, defect reduction, quality systems, and production planning.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, risk assessment, incident investigations, and manufacturing safety systems.
- Ability to read blueprints, customer specifications, process documentation, and production schedules.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ERP, Kronos, and manufacturing reporting systems preferred.
The annual base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $102,000. If you are hired, your annual base pay will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base pay range for the role.
