Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently handle incoming and outgoing materials, ensuring proper storage and distribution.
- Perform regular cycle counts and maintain accurate inventory records. Report any discrepancies and collaborate with the inventory control team to address issues promptly.
- Receive, inspect, and document incoming materials. Verify accuracy of shipments and handle discrepancies in coordination with the procurement team.
- Organize and maintain a well-organized storage system for easy access to materials. Ensure that materials are stored in the designated areas according to safety and accessibility guidelines.
- Fulfill internal and external orders by accurately picking the required materials and preparing them for shipment.
- Inspect materials for damage or defects and report any issues to the appropriate department. Work closely with quality department to ensure that only high-quality materials are used in production.
- Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, in a safe and efficient manner. Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment and report any malfunctions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of material transactions, including receipts, withdrawals, and returns.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment. Report any safety concerns or incidents immediately.
- Collaborate with other departments, including production, procurement, and shipping, to ensure seamless material flow and support overall operational efficiency.
Education and Certifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar role.
- Forklift certification and experience operating material handling equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and perform physical tasks.
- Knowledge of inventory management systems.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping.
Qualification
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Although limited must be able to climb stairs and ladders, work at heights up to 50’ and work in confined spaces.
- You must be able to work in awkward positions such as kneeling, squatting, and while laying on your stomach or back.
- Ability to spend 80% of the day standing.
- Work is primarily conducted in an industrial environment, which may involve exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
