What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inspector II position at Samuel, Son & Co. 1855?
TOOLS:
Precision measuring instruments which include micrometers, Vernier and dial calipers, surface plates, height gages, dial indicators, protractors, hardness testers, sheet metal layout equipment, digital measurement systems and any other measuring and test equipment used to assure product conformity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adhere to and abide by all ITAR-specific job standards and training. Protect and properly safeguard ITAR-sensitive information and work product; ensure dissemination or disclosure of and access to “protected data” occurs only with those trained and approved for exposure to ITAR content.
- IMMEDIATELY notify Supervisor/Manager, Human Resources, Legal, or the Samuel Ethics Alert Hotline of known or suspected unauthorized disclosure, release of or access to protected ITAR content.
- Identify requirements in customer engineering drawings and specifications. Including GD&T.
- Select and utilize appropriate measurement tools.
- Perform in-process, receiving, and final inspection of production parts through the review of work orders, internal and external engineering drawings, tools, and specifications.
- Document the results of inspections: on AS9102 First Article forms, Hardness and Conductivity Logs, Inspection Plans, Work Orders.
- Identify non-conforming conditions on production parts and tools, document them in manufacturing system, and communicate them to the technical and production teams.
- Maintain Inspection room, Mylar Storage area, and measurement equipment by follow calibration requirements and calling for repairs.
- Interact with and present parts to customer auditing and source personnel.
- Validate compliance of dies and tools upon receipt and after production use.
- Engage in regular training and pursue learning opportunities to continually improve knowledge, capability, and performance.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to select and utilize appropriate measurement tools.
- Must have a basic understanding of CAD systems and CMM.
- Must understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Must be able to work unsupervised and maintain the inspection area.
- Must be able to handle several projects or assignments at the same time.
- Must be able to work overtime when required.
- Must be able to stand on their feet 80% of the time.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to hold 5 lbs. for an extended period.
SKILLS:
- Basic computer skills
- Minimum 3-years of working in the quality field or have equivalent knowledge and experience.
