Title: Museum and Program Coordinator, Samuel Slater Experience
Type: Full-time, exempt
Reports to: Operations Manager, Samuel Slater Experience
Description: The Museum and Program Coordinator is responsible for the administration and coordination of the day-to-day operations of the museum and its digital marketing interface with the public. These include project management and general administrative duties related to public open hours, volunteer staff, tours and special events, school field trips, museum gift shop, community outreach and social media communications. The Coordinator is the first person with whom museum visitors interact.
General Administration and Program Responsibilities:
· Work cooperatively and creatively as a key member of a small team.
· Manage admission ticket sales system, memberships, and gift cards.
· Operate and be conversant with all the museum’s multimedia exhibits.
· Recruit, train and schedule the volunteer staff.
· Schedule, coordinate, and conduct school field trips, as well as private and group tours.
· Develop and organize special events, including facilities rentals.
· Create materials for educational and special programs.
· Manage the gift shop, POS, maintain inventory.
· Handle routine phone and email inquiries.
· Support special projects as assigned.
Marketing and Communications Responsibilities:
· Promote museum programs and events on digital platforms.
· Maintain the museum website and update it for programs and projects.
· Write and email a monthly newsletter.
· Maintain the museum’s database and internal calendar.
· Update Google and other travel sites.
· Support and actively engage and contribute to all museum marketing efforts.
· Add a creative mind to all the museum’s functions.
· Excellent organizational, administrative, writing, and interpersonal skills.
· Excellent computer skills, particularly with social media.
Qualifications:
· Minimum BA in museum studies, education, liberal arts, or related field.
· One to three years of experience, preferably in the cultural/nonprofit sector.
· Must be willing to work weekends during regular public open hours, and some evenings.
Salary will range from $40,000 to $50,000, depending on education and experience.
