Job Description Summary:
The Access Control & Events Coordinator supports Samuel Merritt University’s operational excellence by coordinating campus access control, identification badging, event and space scheduling, classroom coordination, and facilities work order management across all four campuses. This role serves as a central point of coordination between academic departments, administrative offices, facilities teams, vendors, and external partners to ensure secure campuses, well-executed events, efficient use of space, and a high standard of customer service for the Samuel Merritt University (SMU) community.Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
Access Control & Identification Badging
- Create, issue, and maintain identification badges for students, faculty, staff, vendors, and visitors for all campuss.
- Assign, update, and audit access permissions to ensure accurate and secure entry to campus facilities.
- Coordinate access control supply ordering and collaborate with campus leadership to meet program-specific and event-related badging needs.
Event Support & Space Coordination
- Assist in the planning, scheduling, and coordination management of the use of university spaces for internal meetings, academic activities, and external events.
- Serve as resource for event logistics, partnering with Media Services and Security to ensure seamless execution.
- Ensure event spaces are appropriately configured, supported, and restored post-event.
- Deliver high-quality, responsive customer service to event organizers, guests faculty, and staff.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; college coursework preferred.
- Minimum of four years of experience in a high-traffic, customer-focused, or coordination-heavy environment.
- Experience with access control systems, camera monitoring, identification badging, event coordination, or facilities operations preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Primary duties are desk-based, with frequent walking throughout campus facilities.
- Responsibilities may include posting signage, conducting visual security checks, and in-person communication with faculty, staff, and event participants.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, kneel, bend, stand, and walk as required.
- Must be able to lift up to forty (40) pounds.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and through active listening.

Samuel Merritt University currently provides base salary ranges for all positions-on job advertisements-in the United States based on local requirements. Individual compensation will ultimately be determined based on a variety of relevant factors including but-not limited to qualifications, geographic location, and other relevant skills.Salary : $27 - $30
