Position Overview
A renewable energy company is seeking a motivated individual with the skills, experience, and aptitude to serve as a Solar Designer.
Title: Solar Designer (C&I)
Location: Connecticut (Relocation assistance offered)
Responsibilities
The Solar Designer will be part of the engineering team responsible for comprehensive project design and engineering, including:
- Assessing solar system size and production using software such as Helioscope, PVSyst, or similar tools.
- Preparing interconnection applications for utilities, including initial design schematics and equipment specifications.
- Designing complete solar systems, including layouts, single- and three-line electrical diagrams, equipment selection/specifications (disconnects, metering, reclosers, transformers, switchgear, data acquisition systems), wiring details/sizing, protection measures, and grounding for DC and AC systems.
- Reviewing and coordinating structural, racking, civil, topological, and survey layers.
- Assisting during construction by addressing RFIs and equipment submittals.
- Reviewing designs of existing assets and coordinating updates, substitutions, repairs, or repowering efforts as needed.
- Conducting site visits when required.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree
- 2 years in the C&I solar industry working with sites of 1MW
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and knowledge of NEC electrical code.
- Preference for 1 year of experience in storage design and familiarity with PV Syst and Helioscope.
