OVERVIEW & IMPACT:
Samsung Semiconductor Inc. is seeking an IP Attorney / Patent Agent who has electrical engineering/computer science and intellectual property experience working with high-tech companies. The person will be responsible for patent drafting and prosecution, technology landscape analysis, and IP portfolio management including patents, trade secrets and know-hows. You should be able to understand new inventions and technologies quickly, and work with both inventors/engineers and outside patent attorneys, generate technology landscape reports, host invention harvest meetings, and lead patent review committees for invention quality grading.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Patent/Technology Analysis and Landscaping including delivering information dense reports on major trends, including recommendations to management.
- IP Portfolio Management based on patent analysis and making important patent lifecycle and prosecution decisions to optimize portfolio value while controlling costs.
- Patent Prosecution management including reviewing invention disclosures, patent drafts, and patent office actions with inventors and outside counsel, and providing relevant guidance.
- Harvest inventions including understanding lab activities, scheduling and running technical discussions with engineers, and assisting in documenting all IP discovered.
- Patent drafting including independently drafting patent applications for selected high-value inventions.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS:
- BS in EE or CS (Semiconductor related)
- 3-5 years of industry experience including patent drafting.
- Registered patent agent/attorney.
- Strong mathematical ability allowing comprehension of electrical engineering, physics, material science, and software arts.
- Domestic and international travel as needed.
