Job Summary:
The Solids Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient handling, processing, and disposition of hemp biomass and spent material throughout extraction and post-extraction operations. This role ensures proper material flow, solids separation, solvent recovery support, and waste handling while maintaining compliance with cGMP, OSHA, and environmental requirements.
Shift Requirement: 6pm - 6am
Responsibilities:
Solids Handling & Processing
- Load, unload, and transfer hemp biomass into extraction or processing equipment
- Operate solids-related equipment including centrifuges, filter presses, bag filters, conveyors, and dryers
- Manage spent biomass (spent cake) removal and staging
- Ensure proper solids separation per SOPs
Equipment Operation & Care
- Set up, operate, and monitor solids processing equipment
- Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance
- Identify and escalate equipment issues
- Maintain equipment cleanliness to prevent cross-contamination
cGMP Documentation & Compliance
- Complete batch records, logbooks, and production forms accurately
- Verify material identity, weights, and lot numbers
- Follow SOPs and work instructions
- Support internal and external audits
Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Follow OSHA, EPA, and site safety policies
- Properly handle solvents, biomass, and waste streams
- Use required PPE at all times
- Report safety hazards, spills, and near misses
Requirements:
- Solid work ethic with good attitude
- Willingness to work shifts ( 3rd: 6pm-6am)
- Willingness to learn
- High school diploma
- Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly during a shift
- Willingness to work outside in the Alabama climate
