Head of Product Development

Samson Distribution is seeking a dynamic, hands-on, and visionary Head of Product Development to lead our R&D, Engineering Design, and Quality Management teams. This executive-level position requires a deep passion for audio innovation and a strong track record in product development and team leadership. A thorough knowledge of the music and audio industry is desirable.

Role Description

This full-time executive role will oversee domestic electrical and mechanical engineers, project management teams, and China-based program and quality managers in an OEM/ODM supplier environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full product development lifecycle — from concept, feature definition, and industrial design through to final production.
• Manage and coordinate product development efforts across domestic and Asia-based engineering teams.
• Collaborate with external design and manufacturing partners to drive development schedules and deliverables.
• Estimate development costs and forecast expected FOB pricing.
• Provide on-site support and leadership by traveling to both domestic and international supplier facilities as needed.
• Oversee transducer and loudspeaker design — from small transducers to large audio systems.
• Read and interpret electronic schematics with fluency.
• Possess deep technical knowledge of RF audio technologies, including UHF, VHF, Bluetooth, and digital wireless systems.
• Demonstrate at least 10 years of experience in both electronic and mechanical product design based on experience and qualifications.
• Estimate and assess mechanical tooling costs for plastic injection molding and metal fabrication.
• Analyze and review 3D mechanical drawings and CAD files.
• Understand and evaluate DSP technologies, including plugin integration and digital signal processing capabilities.
• Must be familiar with global product certification processes, including FCC, TUV, and other international emission and safety requirements.

Salary Range  $100K-$150k
