Sampson Regional Medical Center is seeking a Blood Bank Technical Specialist to join the Blood Bank team!
Description:
Under minimal supervision, is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day technical operations of the Blood Bank Transfusion and Donor Services, in accordance with the established hospital and department policies and standards. Plays a lead role in the strategic planning process and the implementation of initiatives focused on enhanced performance, work flow redesign, and developing a culture that emphasizes excellence in the quality and delivery of Blood Bank Transfusion and Donor Services. Provides technical consultant/supervisory duties in areas authorized by CLIA. Provides daily general supervision of Lab Tech II's, Donor Phlebotomy staff, students, and any other personnel who work in the specific department.
Requirements:
- Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in either of the following including twelve (12) months of clinical laboratory education:
- Medical Technology / Laboratory Science or
- Biological, Chemical, Medical or
- Physical science from an accredited institution.
- National certification by an approved agency (ASCP or AMT) is required. Must keep certificate maintenance if required by certification agency.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience. Supervisory experience preferred.
- Must have at least 2 years of training/experience in moderate complexity areas
- Must have at least 5 years of training/experience in high complexity testing for blood bank. Donor experience preferred.
Hours:
This is a full-time, salaried position. Normally works 8-hour shifts. May work other hours for effective operation of the department as requested.
