About the Role:Sample Supports provides comprehensive social services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are seeking Direct Support Professionals to help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities participate in meaningful community activities across Colorado. Our goal is to have the people we support direct their own services to reach milestones towards independence in whatever way feels important to them. As a Direct Support Professional, you will work with at-risk adults of varying needs to build social skills, support positive behavior development, and ultimately increase their level of confidence to participate as active members of their community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support people with disabilities in group and one to one day program services (site-based and community environments)
  • Assist in creating meaningful activity schedules chosen by the people participating in program
  • Encourage the development of social skills and practice building meaningful relationships with at-risk adults
  • Promote self-advocacy and assist people with disabilities in voicing their wants and needs
  • Provide quality attention and supervision to at-risk adults participating in program activities
  • Implement behavior support plans to encourage people to reach their goals both at program and in their communities
  • Provide transportation to people with disabilities to and from program as assigned

Effective 7/1/2024, our DSP tenured wage scale will be increasing to the following:

  • Starting wage: $20/hour
  • 6 month wage: $20.50/hour

Tenured increases will be provided based on length of employment!

Requirements

  Qualifications:

  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a willingness to transport individuals in services in your vehicle
    • In order to provide transportation, the candidate must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Able to perform the physical demands of the position may include but are not limited to:
    • Physically intervening with individuals that pose a safety threat to themselves or others utilizing NVCI-approved techniques,
    • Working with unpredictable and aggressive individuals and may be expected to be alone with them in the community or in their homes, and
    • Maintaining calm and professionally intervening with individuals during escalated/crisis moments.

  • Due to the nature of the work performed at Sample Supports, and that this position works with an at risk population, we do require a criminal background check be completed
