Description
Leominster Public Schools is seeking an anticipated Paraeducator for the 2026 Summer ELD Program. This position provides focused instructional support specifically designed for newcomer and immigrant students in grades 6-8. The paraeducator will assist in providing intensive language support to facilitate academic transitions and English language acquisition.
Schedule & Compensation
- Program Dates: June 29th through July 30th.
- Shift Hours: 18 hours per week (Monday – Thursday, 7:40 am – 12:10 pm).
- Attendance: Attendance for all five weeks (20 days) is preferred.
- Rate: Contractual Hourly Rate as of July 1st.
Responsibilities
- Teacher Support: Provide support for the classroom teacher to establish and implement theme-based and project-based activities weekly.
- Instructional Assistance: Assist the classroom teacher in providing academic instruction, drawing on language-rich curriculum and supplemental materials.
- Small Group Work: Work with newcomer and immigrant students in small groups and individually to support language goals.
- Communication: Maintain daily communication with the classroom teacher and parents when necessary regarding student and classroom progress.
- Reporting: Report to the On-Site Coordinator and Cheri McKenzie, Director of Multilingual Learner Education
