POSITION SUMMARY
The Site Manager - Installation is responsible for all on-site activities related to the installation, commissioning, and operational readiness of warehouse automation solutions. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with all regulatory and customer-specific standards. The Site Manager will oversee subcontractors and internal teams, manage client relationships, and maintain operational excellence across multiple job sites.
This position requires strong technical expertise in warehouse operations and automation technologies. The Site Manager - Installation drives site readiness, monitors project progress, enforces safety and compliance standards, and ensure clear communication between engineering, project management, vendors, and customer teams.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of installation and commissioning projects from initiation to handoff.
- Ensure adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
- Lead site logistics including material receipt, equipment staging, and subcontractor performance.
- Oversee site documentation including daily reports, safety audits, change logs, and progress updates.
- Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and Engineering teams to ensure smooth project execution and communication.
- Supervise on-site personnel, subcontractors, and third-party vendors to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Lead daily site briefings and toolbox talks focused on safety, quality, and client expectations.
- Promote accountability, high morale, and collaboration among cross-functional project teams.
- Serve as the primary on-site liaison for customers, contractors, and SWS leadership.
- Maintain proactive communication regarding project status, milestones, and potential risks.
- Conduct regular client meetings to ensure alignment with operational goals and customer satisfaction.
- Represent SWS professionally and consistently, fostering strong relationships that encourage repeat business.
- Ensure full compliance with SWS, OSHA, and customer-specific safety standards.
- Implement site safety programs, assign safety representatives, and maintain records of training and audits.
- Verify adherence to local building codes, industry best practices, and environmental standards.
- Champion SWS’s Quality Management Program, ensuring deliverables meet or exceed customer expectations.
minimum qualifications
Basic Knowledge & Competencies:
Required
- 5 years of progressive leadership experience in warehouse automation, material handling, or industrial installation projects.
- Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and site operations simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of OSHA standards, mechanical/electrical systems, and installation practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with enterprise-level clients.
- Proficiency with project management software (MS Project, Wrike) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 25%.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field; or equivalent experience (5 years in the industry).
- PMP certification or equivalent project management credential.
- OSHA 10/30 certification.
- Experience with AutoCAD and reading technical blueprints or schematics.
- Hands-on knowledge of warehouse automation or conveyor systems.
- Prior experience managing high-volume, fast-paced installations in the logistics or e-commerce sector.
- Forklift Experience
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Work performed primarily at customer job sites within the DFW region and occasionally nationwide.
- Combination of office and field environments; may include exposure to noise, dust, machinery, and temperature variations.
- Use of PPE (personal protective equipment) is required.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform site walks as needed.
