Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing outstanding customer service while managing check-in and check-out procedures.
- Schedule appointments efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Verify patient insurance coverage, process medical collections, and handle billing inquiries with accuracy and professionalism.
- Review medical documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with clinical confidentiality policies.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR), including filing, updating medical records, and ensuring proper documentation review.
- Assist with medical coding tasks such as CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding to support billing processes and care plans.
- Handle phone communication with professionalism, practicing excellent phone etiquette while managing appointment reminders and patient inquiries.
- Maintain office supplies, organize files, perform data entry with 10-key typing skills, and ensure the clinic remains organized and efficient.
- Support clinical staff by coordinating care plans, reviewing documentation, and managing health information management tasks.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy at all times while maintaining accurate medical records.
Skills
- Proven experience in medical office administration with strong clerical skills in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for documentation management.
- Knowledge of health insurance processes including Medicare billing and medical collections procedures.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding standards for accurate billing and documentation review.
- Excellent customer service skills paired with phone etiquette to handle patient interactions effectively.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite for administrative tasks.
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Clinic experience in dental or medical settings is preferred to understand clinical workflows thoroughly.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Understanding of clinical confidentiality policies aligned with HIPAA compliance standards.
