Position Summary
The Tennis Instructor is responsible for delivering high‑quality tennis instruction to players of all ages and skill levels. This includes leading youth and adult group lessons, providing private lessons, and fostering a safe, positive, and motivating environment. The ideal candidate is energetic, professional, and skilled in adapting instruction for various ages, abilities, and learning styles.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Coaching

Lead engaging youth and adult group lessons.

Provide individualized private lessons.

Teach proper technique, footwork, stroke development, and match strategy.

Adjust teaching approaches for different ages and skill levels.

Encourage confidence, fun, and sportsmanship.
Program Delivery & Class Management

Create structured lesson plans that support skill progression.

Manage group dynamics to keep students engaged and challenged.

Ensure a safe and organized court environment.

Set up and break down equipment before and after lessons.
Player Development

Assess students’ skills and identify areas for growth.

Offer clear, constructive feedback.

Modify drills and instruction as students progress.
Communication & Customer Service

Maintain consistent, professional communication with the Fitness Coordinator regarding schedules, program needs, attendance, and participant updates.

Report safety concerns, equipment issues, or behavioral challenges to the Fitness Coordinator promptly.

Coordinate lesson scheduling and program adjustments with the Fitness Coordinator to support smooth operations.

Communicate clearly and professionally with parents, students, and staff.

Provide timely responses to inquiries about lessons or scheduling.
Qualifications

Strong understanding of tennis fundamentals, strategy, and teaching progressions.

Experience working with youth and/or adults in instructional settings preferred.

Ability to lead groups confidently while providing individualized support.

Excellent communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.

CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

USTA, USPTA, or PTR certification a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements

Ability to run, feed balls, demonstrate strokes, and maintain high energy for extended periods.

Ability to lift 20lbs (ball hoppers, equipment).

Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Seasonal Work Schedule
April– August Schedule

Instructor should be available for morning, afternoon, and evening lessons, with exact times varying by seasonal programming needs.

Weekend availability is recommended but not required, primarily for:
