Role Description This full-time Medical Biller role is a hybrid position based in Rochester, NY, with the option for some work from home. The Medical Biller will review and submit claims to insurance carriers, including Medicare and other payers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current billing regulations. Daily responsibilities include verifying patient insurance coverage, applying appropriate ICD-10 codes, resolving denials and billing discrepancies, and following up on outstanding receivables. The role also involves posting payments, reconciling accounts, communicating with payers and provider staff to address billing issues, and supporting revenue cycle improvement initiatives. The Medical Biller will collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to maintain clear documentation and contribute to efficient, compliant billing processes.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and ability to interpret clinical documentation.
- Proficiency with ICD-10 coding and application of codes to support accurate claim submission.
- Experience working with commercial insurance plans and understanding of payer requirements.
- Solid understanding of Medicare billing rules and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze, and resolve denials and underpayments.
- Prior experience in medical billing or revenue cycle management in a healthcare setting.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfort with electronic medical records and billing software; proficiency in basic office software (e.g., Excel, Word).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
