Spiritual Support Counselor
Salary: $52,520-$76,148.80
What You’ll Do:
- Complete comprehensive assessments of patient spiritual and existential strengths, beliefs, practices and needs,issues of purpose, meaning and experiences in facing end of life.
- Serve as a core member of the Interdisciplinary Care Team and collaboratively develop a patient guided plan of care.
- Provide spiritual support and counseling around issues of meaning, purpose, grief and existential distress, honoring diversity of faiths, spiritual traditions, beliefs, and cultural practices.

Facilitate rituals, prayer, or spiritual practices as requested by patients or families.
- Facilitate connection to existing or needed religious or cultural relationships in the community.
- Provide spiritual support for staff and volunteers as requested
- Complete documentation in accordance with agency policy
- Plan/officiate funerals upon request of the family
- Attend all mandatory in-services provided by Samaritan
- Coordinate census and patient visitation schedule according to assigned levels of care
- Provide in-services on spiritual care to staff, volunteers and community
- Participate in organization activities such as Tree of Life and Memorial Events
- Participate in staff and volunteer orientation and training
What You’ll Bring to Our Team:
- Demonstrated work experience in interfaith and multicultural environments
- One year experience providing spiritual care, preferably in hospice, palliative care, or healthcare settings.
- Bilingual is a plus!
- Degree in divinity, theology or other related degree
- Completed Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) unit(s)
- Ordination or good standing within own faith community
- Pastoral training program or 5 years pastoral care experience
