The Role
The Clinic Office Assistant shall assist in performing the following clerical functions: patient registration, to include collection of demographic and insurance information, verification of insurance coverage, scheduling appointments, generating Superbills (as needed), preparing correspondence, greeting patients and preparing, maintaining, retrieving and filing medical records and diagnostic reports. Additionally, the Clinic Office Assistant will manage an established computerized database through the collection and entry of specified data. This work is carried out in support of the mission and philosophy of Samaritan Daytop Health, Inc.
Responsibilities
What You Will Do
- Apply EHR policies and procedures related to essential job functions, which includes but is not limited to: patient registration and scheduling processes, collection of demographic and insurance information, verification of insurance coverage, sliding fee schedules, scanning documents, obtaining consents, and processing superbill information.
- Maintain an efficient system for scheduling appointments for patients in accordance with established agency procedures.
- Complete the patient registration/insurance verification processes in accordance with established EHR procedures.
- Assemble and prepare medical records to include: assignment of medical record number, placement of chart forms in designated order in the chart and recording patient identification on all new records.
- Retrieve medical records on a timely basis and in accordance with established procedures for: (a)scheduled patient visits (b) transport to other SDH clinics (c) Correspondence (d) photocopying.
- Organize and maintains an efficient system for verifying location of charts and filing active medical records at the clinic site by unit record number.
Qualifications
Who You Will Be
- Someone with a High School Diploma.
- Possess two (2) years in a medical office or ambulatory care setting.
- Well-versed in medical terminology.
- Fluency in English, both oral and written forms.
- Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EMR.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds
