Operations Intern

The Operations Intern will provide vital administrative and communications support to the organization’s programs and leadership. Responsibilities include attending and taking detailed notes during bi-monthly virtual meetings with the nonprofit team and Board of Directors, as well as during additional check-ins as needed. The intern will assist with donor communications and outreach, including drafting letters and updates to collaborators. They will also contribute to the creation of flyers, newsletters, and other digital materials to support organizational visibility. In addition, the intern will support data-driven decision-making by creating graphs, visualizations, and performing basic statistical analysis to represent program outcomes.


About Us

The Phoenix International Foundation, established in 2016, is a 501 (c)(3) international relief organization that performs medical, educational, and conservation work in Southeast Asia. The Phoenix International Foundation is a sister nonprofit to Samantha Siu New York, a luxury jewelry company rooted in the same values of international support and spreading good. Our current projects include partnering with local organizations to provide educational science camps, physical wellness exams, and vaccinations to people in Cambodia, Myanmar, and Thailand.


The Internship Experience

The internship with the Phoenix International Foundation will provide valuable, hands-on training in administrative and communication functions of an international nonprofit. As an intern, you’ll be supporting a dedicated and experienced nonprofit management team that lives the values of the Phoenix International Foundation. You’ll have the opportunity to liaise with high-profile stakeholders, develop relationships with partner organizations worldwide, and make an impact in the lives of the people that the Phoenix International Foundation serves.


Internship Guidelines

  • This is an unpaid internship focused on skill-building and hands-on experience
  • This internship provides educational training in nonprofit management and stakeholder engagement
  • Internship duration: 6 months, with the possibility of extension based on mutual interest, performance, and learning objectives
  • Tentative Start Date: December 1, 2025
  • Tentative End Date: June 1, 2026
  • Nature of Employment: Part-Time Internship, Unpaid
  • Hours/Week: 10-15
  • Virtual Work Environment: This position is entirely remote
  • Location: Intern must be located in the United States; meetings will follow EST


Position Responsibilities

  • Meeting Notes: Attend and take detailed notes during bi-monthly virtual meetings with the nonprofit team and Board of Directors
  • Stakeholder Communications: Draft and edit donor communications, including thank-you letters, collaborator updates, and outreach materials
  • Visual Marketing: Design and format flyers, newsletters, and other digital communications to support organizational initiatives
  • Data Analysis: Compile and organize data for program reporting and impact tracking; conduct basic statistical analysis to identify trends or summarize outcomes
  • Data Representation: Create visual representations of data for presentations and reports
  • General Support: Support general administrative tasks to ensure smooth coordination across programs and leadership


Who You Are

  • Motivated and detail-oriented student or early-career professional interested in nonprofit operations and community impact
  • Strong writer and comfortable drafting emails, letters, and content that represent an organization’s voice
  • Curious to learn about donor engagement and nonprofit communications
  • Comfortable organizing information, creating graphs, or conducting basic analysis
  • Collaborative, reliable, and eager to gain hands-on experience in how boutique, mission-driven organizations run day-to-day


Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • Entirely virtual work environment
  • Able to sit and perform computer work for prolonged periods
  • Have access to a reliable device with steady internet to join virtual meetings


Required Education

  • High School Diploma
  • Working towards a college degree


Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications, Nonprofit Management, Sociology, Psychology, Business Administration, Data Science, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to clarity and tone
  • Basic knowledge of data analysis, statistics, or data visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets, Canva charts, or similar)
  • Experience creating digital or print materials such as flyers, newsletters, or social media content
  • Familiarity with donor relations, fundraising, or stakeholder communication
  • Strong interest in international, medical, and/or educational nonprofits
  • Comfortable attending and documenting virtual meetings with multiple stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities independently
