Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a higher education testing, assessment, or student services environment or in a related field. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.
Nature And Purpose Of Position
The Director of the Testing Center provides strategic, operational, and service-oriented leadership for all Testing Center functions. This role is responsible for the planning, administration, supervision, and continuous improvement of testing services that support student success, institutional compliance, and university enrollment goals.
Primary Responsibilities
Provides strategic leadership to cultivate a customer-first culture aligned with the Testing Centers mission, guiding principles, and institutional priorities. Maintains required certifications, authorizations, and credentials for test administration with external testing agencies and vendors, ensuring the Testing Center remains eligible to offer exams and remains compliant with all associated standards and requirements. Ensures consistent engagement with campus partners and community stakeholders to promote visibility, transparency, and collaboration related to Testing Center services. Maintains direct oversight of all Testing Center operations, ensuring compliance with university policies and industry standards related to test administration, security, accessibility, and service delivery. Actively participates in daily operations, including regular front-desk presence, to model exemplary service, support staff, and maintain operational continuity; assists with phones, email correspondence, and check-in processes as needed. Leads, trains, and supports Testing Center staff through onboarding, professional development, and ongoing coaching while fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment.
Conducts regular staff meetings to communicate updates, address operational challenges, and provide continuous training. Models and reinforces a solution-oriented service approach, actively resolving complex customer concerns and supporting staff in high-stakes interactions. Develops, implements, and enforces Testing Center policies and procedures related to test security, integrity, accommodations, and operations. Oversees budget management, staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure efficient operations and high-quality service delivery. Develops and executes strategic communication and outreach efforts to enhance awareness and accessibility of Testing Center services across campus and in the surrounding community. Maintains and updates Testing Center digital and print communications to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency with institutional messaging. Collects, analyzes, and reports data related to Testing Center utilization, performance, and trends, providing regular updates to the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Success. Serves as the primary institutional representative to external testing agencies and vendors, ensuring compliance with requirements and proactive awareness of upcoming changes. Manages special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Success, ensuring timely and thorough completion while maintaining primary accountability for outcomes. Represents the Testing Center on university committees and working groups, providing insight, updates, and recommendations to enhance testing services and student experience. Maintains advanced knowledge of testing standards, exam inventory, and emerging practices in higher education assessment and testing. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Maintains proficiency in relevant testing software, scheduling platforms, data systems, and reporting tools, with a commitment to ongoing professional development in support of efficient, accessible, and student-focused service delivery.
