Shipper- Dar

JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is one that requires that the person be able to drive a forklift and be able to load and unload trucks. They are responsible for the documentation of what is being loaded or unloaded from a truck. They must follow all safety rules when loading trucks and are responsible for the truck driver following safety rules.

Primary Job Responsibilities: 

Included but not limited to:

• Perform maintenance checks on forklift daily
• Unload materials, pallets, and crates from trucks as they arrive
• Presort and pre-stack finished products prior to loading
• Load outbound freight trucks, both box and flatbed type trailers
• Maintain shipping area, keeping clean and safe
• Follow all safety rules and guidelines
• Must be punctual, follow directions, and work from a priority list
• Must be able to work at a safe and productive pace
• Demonstrate familiarity with forklift operations
• Must be able to read shipping paperwork and identify discrepancies
• Other directives from management

Environment & Working Conditions:

• Able to endure climate changes (hot and cold)
• Able to work in and outdoors

Physical Demands:

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
• Able to bend, stoop, and climb
• Able to work while standing on concrete for up to 12 hours a day

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: 

• Able to read and write
• Must have forklift experience and perform and pass forklift test
• High school diploma or equivalent

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred
• Ability to operate machinery and equipment
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds

• Punctual
• Properly and accurately read a tape measure in one-inch increments
• Communicate clearly with others
