MTSS Specialist
QUALIFICATIONS:

LOCATION: Split position between Hollywood Elementary School and Saluda Middle School
REPORTS TO: Principals and Director of Student Services
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190 Days
SALARY: Based on teacher salary schedule
OVERVIEW: The MTSS Specialist serves will be responsible for leading the implementation and monitoring of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). This position focuses on coordinating academic, behavioral, attendance, and social-emotional supports for students. The specialist collaborates with teachers, instructional staff, counselors, and administrators to ensure that data-driven practices are used to identify student needs, implement targeted supports, monitor progress, and adjust interventions to improve student outcomes.
DUTIES: Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
Leadership and Coordination
- Serve as the school leader responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports.
- Lead school teams in developing and monitoring tiered supports for academics, behavior, attendance, and social-emotional development.
- Facilitate MTSS team meetings and problem-solving processes focused on student success.
- Collaborate with the principal and leadership team to align MTSS practices with school improvement goals.
- Work with administration to ensure the master schedule provides adequate time for intervention and enrichment.
Data Analysis and Monitoring
- Coordinate the collection, analysis, and use of student data to identify learning and behavioral needs.
- Lead staff in using data to make informed instructional decisions and adjust supports.
- Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and ensure appropriate progress monitoring practices.
- Maintain systems for documenting interventions and student progress.
Instructional Support
- Collaborate with teachers and instructional staff to support effective instructional practices and interventions.
- Provide guidance and coaching related to differentiation, targeted instruction, and student support strategies.
- Support the implementation of evidence-based practices designed to improve student learning outcomes.
Student Support Systems
- Coordinate academic, behavioral, attendance, and social-emotional supports within the school.
- Work collaboratively with counselors, interventionists, and support personnel to ensure appropriate services are provided to students.
- Assist with the development and implementation of plans for students requiring additional support.
Professional Learning
- Provide professional development and coaching to staff related to MTSS practices, data use, and intervention strategies.
- Support teachers in implementing effective strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
Collaboration and Communication
- Communicate regularly with school staff, families, and district personnel regarding student support systems.
- Serve as a liaison between school teams and district support services when necessary.
- Promote collaboration among teachers, interventionists, counselors, and other support personnel.
Other Responsibilities
- Support school-wide initiatives that promote a positive culture, climate, and student engagement.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
