Description

Reporting to the Director of Behavioral Health and Case Management (BH/CM), the  Behavioral Health Clinical Supervisor will work closely with the Director of BH/CM to ensure the provision of quality behavioral health and case management services delivered through an integrated primary care environment. The Behavioral Health Clinical Supervisor will ensure the organization meets the ‘Quadruple Aim’ of great patient care and improved population health within an efficient cost structure, while improving the work life of providers and staff. This role will also provide clinical leadership and consultation, administrative oversight, clinical evaluation, will head program design and implementation, and evaluation of services.  In addition, the BH Clinical Supervisor will be responsible for interpreting, advocating for, and providing education on Behavioral Health practices and professional development, as well as delivering direct patient care.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Staff Leadership/Management: 

• Promote growth of Behavioral Health staff in areas of leadership, clinical excellence, patient-centered care, education, and organizational involvement to meet the identified goals and needs of the BH/CM team and organization. 

• Monitor, support, and provide hands-on teaching to clinicians, student interns, and case managers in their practice management to meet expectations for good patient care.

• Assess and monitor Behavioral Health provider’s engagement in their professional practice and patient care, participating in activities related to improving engagement, professional work-life balance, and work satisfaction. 

• Work closely with BH Program management team to address day-to-day site issues, ensure solid onboarding of new providers, and provide other support as needed. 

• Support the Director of BH/CM with supervision and evaluation of behavioral health department staff to include: contracting providers, providing orientation, reviewing credentials, and administering of performance management. 

• Provide training and guidance in promoting adherence to the Collaborative Care Model and other evidence-based practice. 


Administrative Leadership: 

• Lead and/or participate in initiatives to promote and grow Behavioral Health and Case Management Services. 

• Support the Director of BH/CM in building and overseeing the training program for Behavioral Health and Case Management. 

•  Adhere to the standards and policies of the Organizational Privacy/Security and Compliance Programs, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, OIG, guidelines, and other State and Federal laws). This also includes reporting to the Board of Directors, Compliance Officer, Privacy Officer, or supervisor any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts or practices.


Clinical Practice: 

• Complete comprehensive appropriate psychosocial assessments and other identified tools to develop care plans and support clinical and non-clinical treatment goals. 

• Screen patients utilizing identified tools for psycho-social issues as well as common mental health and substance abuse disorders. 

• Provide patient education about common mental health and substance abuse disorders, and available treatment options, as well as community resources. 

• Support and closely coordinate mental health care with the patient’s primary care provider and, when appropriate, other treating providers. 

• Monitor patients (in person or by telephone) for changes in clinical symptoms and treatment side effects or complications, and communicate any changes or issues to the respective treatment team. 

• Provide brief interventions using evidence-based techniques, such “Motivational Interviewing” and brief (i.e., 10 visits or less) psychotherapy. 

• Facilitate patient engagement and follow-up in care. 

• Track patient follow-up and clinical outcomes using the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Document in-person and telephone encounters in the EMR and use the system to identify and re-engage patients.

• Ensure that each patient’s rights are protected and that they are provided with appropriate interventions based on ability to participate, cultural concerns, and diagnostic impression. 

• Maintain progress notes and other documentation required for the client medical record and utilization management within the timelines outlined. 

• Participate in quality initiatives and utilization review activities as requested. 

• Perform all functions of a BH therapist, while providing direct patient care.

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of Integrated Care practice models and the ability/willingness to learn and supervise new models and modalities. 

• Skilled in gathering, utilizing, and disseminating use of data in guiding and supporting practice. 

• Ability to create strong teams and effective cross-organizational partnerships. 

• Knack for recognizing and navigating organizational dynamics and systems adeptly. 

• Ability to work across settings and physical sites. 

• Demonstrated systems thinker and problem solver.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Professionally licensed therapists (LCSW, LPCC, PhD); must demonstrate competency in providing evidence-based behavioral health services as clinically indicated. 

• Must have at least two (2) year of post-licensure counseling experience. 

• Required to maintain an updated CPR certificate respectively; must have valid California driver's license and current automobile insurance.

• Bilingual Spanish/English strongly desired.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to delegate independently. 

• Experience working in a community health center setting or similar environment.

• Strong clinical knowledge and skills. 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· Standing, walking, sitting, typing, reaching, bending, moving and/or lifting up to 25 pounds.


 

SALARY & BENEFITS

Salary: $112,030.22 - $136,173.44

Employment Type: Full-Time

Benefits: available to all regular Salud employees working 24 hours per week. Part-time employees may receive some benefits on a pro-rated basis. Benefits include:

Additional Information:

  • Employees on temporary assignments are eligible for holiday pay and California sick pay, both pro-rated based on hours worked.
