Job Summary
LS Construction LLC is seeking a highly experienced Job Site Foreman / Lead Carpenter to join our construction team in Kodiak, Alaska.
This is a hands-on working foreman position. The person we hire will be the job site supervisor AND a working carpenter on the crew daily. This is not a position where you simply supervise employees and watch the work being performed.
You will be expected to work directly alongside the crew, performing carpentry and construction work while also directing employees, planning the work, maintaining quality, and keeping the project moving efficiently.
We are looking for someone with extensive, well-rounded construction experience who can take responsibility for a job site and has the skills to perform high-quality work themselves.
This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone with the experience and confidence to take responsibility for a construction site while being one of the skilled carpenters performing the work.
Construction Experience Required
- Applicants should have substantial hands-on experience in most or all the following:
Siding installation – multiple types of siding and exterior systems
Window and exterior door installation – replacement and new construction
Proper window and door flashing, waterproofing, and exterior trim
Asphalt shingle roofing
Metal roofing
Finish carpentry
Interior and exterior window and door trim
Baseboard, casing, doors, and other detailed trim work
Cabinet installation and finish work
Flooring installation – LVP, laminate, hardwood, and similar products
Skills
- Work directly alongside the construction crew each day.
- Perform skilled carpentry and construction tasks yourself.
- Supervise, lead, and support employees while working with them in the field.
- Lay out projects and determine the correct sequence of work.
- Assign daily responsibilities and keep employees productive and on task.
- Read and interpret plans, drawings, specifications, and manufacturer installation requirements.
- Ensure all work is completed correctly and meets high-quality standards.
- Identify construction issues and determine practical, effective solutions on site.
- Coordinate materials, tools, equipment, and deliveries to keep work moving efficiently.
- Monitor project progress and help maintain schedules and deadlines.
- Maintain an organized, productive, and safe job site always.
- Communicate with company management regarding progress, manpower needs, materials, scheduling, and job‑site concerns.
- Hold employees accountable for workmanship, safety, and productivity.
- Lead by example and be willing to perform the same work expected of the crew.
