Summary

Performs as project leader in developing new power generation resource options to meet SRP needs. Manages, oversees, and coordinates internal teams and external consultants on resource development activities including site selection, land acquisition, permitting, siting, infrastructure, technology selection conceptual design and issuance of necessary agreements. Communicate analytical results and recommendation to various levels of SRP management and external stakeholders.

What You'll Do

  • Develops answers to complex, open-ended questions involving significant uncertainty and ambiguity with meaningful economic and operational implications.
  • Leads the investigation and evaluation of future resource options to meet SRP's load requirements and achieve corporate goals. These decisions have a direct and lasting impact on SRP's financial performance, reliability and achieving sustainability goals.
  • Performs as project leader in the development of new generation resources, including site selection, land acquisition, transmission, fuel supply, water supply, permitting, siting, technology selection, conceptual design, cost estimates, schedule, and issuance of necessary agreements.
  • Manages, oversees, and coordinates all aspect of project activities supported by a matrix team consisting of internal departments and external consultants/contractors.
  • Presents results of analysis and recommended courses of action to executive management, the SRP Board, external stakeholders and customers involving resource decisions valued at hundreds of millions of dollars.
  • Directly assists in the development of others’ knowledge, skills, and abilities. Train new analysts and engineers in resource planning, acquisition, and development.
  • Provide direction to analysts and engineers in the development of new resource alternatives.
  • Analyzes the economic and operational impacts of environmental and other regulatory policy proposals and develop responses to these proposals on an SRP-specific and state-wide basis.
  • Participates in the negotiation of Power Purchase Agreements and outright power plant acquisitions.
  • Oversees Strategic Competitive Market analyses and Business Studies.

Education

A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

Experience

A minimum of 14 years of relevant experience is required. In lieu of a degree, relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 18 years may be considered.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
