Summary

Salt River Project (SRP), the nation’s third largest public power electric utility is seeking a current college junior or senior to join our Federal Affairs team for the Spring Internship program in SRP’s Washington, D.C. office. The Federal Affairs office represents SRP at the federal level and advocates on a wide array of issues important to SRP and its customers and shareholders.

The student intern will work daily scheduled hours based on the department’s needs, with a minimum requirement of 15 hours and up to 40 hours per week maximum.

Internship Program Start And End Dates

Start Date: January 2026

End Date: May 2026 (Can be extended)

What You'll Do

Attend Congressional hearings and report out your key takeaways.

Research Federal legislation and produce written summaries and reports.

Monitor media stories.

Produce written summaries and reports.

Assist with event planning and support.

Assist with administrative support and other office duties.

What It Takes To Succeed

Must be enrolled in at least junior or senior year of undergraduate studies. Open to graduate students as well.

The internship is also open to graduate and law school students.

SRP requires its college interns to be enrolled a minimum of 6 hours each semester

Cumulative GPA is 3.0 or above

Experience

Interest in learning about energy and water-related issues and their corresponding policy challenges and solutions

Highly motivated and results oriented with a desire to exceed expectations

Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

Attention to detail and a quick learner

Ability to work independently at an in-office setting

Familiarity with MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Photoshop training is a plus

32 hours / 4 days a week, Monday – Thursday

  • Fridays are optional depending on the Congressional schedule

Education

College level coursework (100 ) related to the position from an accredited institution is preferred.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
