ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Bus Driver: Transports passengers (students, teachers, parents, etc.) to and from school and other district sanctioned events. Ensures that students are delivered to proper drop-off points. Determines that students are met by designated parent or guardian if required. Demonstrates and explains emergency evacuation procedures to passengers in accordance with Transportation Safety Training. Maintains daily mileage and route logs as required. Updates route maps as needed. Transports students, etc. according to official route maps. Obeys all traffic laws and observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses. Performs as a substitute bus driver as needed. Communicates with dispatcher via cell phone/radio as required. Conducts a daily pre-trip safety inspection of the vehicle as well as cleaning and sweeping bus interior. Communicates with teachers, principal, monitors and other officials as needed. Maintains order and discipline of students and other passengers on bus per prescribed policies, prepares conduct reports as needed. Operates wheelchair lift, and loads and unloads and safely secures passengers confined to wheelchairs, when applicable. Monitors the activities of Transportation (Bus) Monitors as they relate to their actions with students and the public.

Maintenance Maintains and makes minor repairs to HVAC systems. Maintains and repairs plumbing systems. Troubleshoots and repairs basic electrical problems. Makes repairs to walls, ceilings, floors, windows, window frames, and performs other carpentry related duties as needed. Safely operates hand and power tools. Makes repairs to fans, hot water heaters and kitchen equipment such as dishwashers, ovens and fryers. Collaborates with supervision regarding repair methods and cost estimates. Provides a high level of customer service.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of accepted techniques and methods operating passenger motor vehicles and working with children. ¢ Ability to operate a standard or automatic transmission motor vehicle and operates foot controls with two feet simultaneously. Ability to use two-way communication equipment. Knowledge of specialized equipment used in the transport of passengers. Ability to operate hand and power driven tools and machinery. Ability to read and comprehend written and graphic instructions and oral instructions. Ability to read, understand and interpret manuals and blueprints. Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations. Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members. Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies; including mandatory reporting procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience: High School diploma or equivalent e 5 years driving experience ¢ Qualify for a valid Arizona Commercial Drivers License (CDL — Class B) with a School Bus Endorsement, and an Arizona School Bus Drivers Certification issued by the Arizona Motor Vehicle Department e Three years of experience in building construction, maintenance or repair, with HVAC/refrigeration, electrical, carpentry and painting experience e Lift test, drug/alcohol test e Finger Print Clearance ® Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements

Computer Proficiency: Demonstrated general proficiency in job related computer-based equipment and software. Technology Proficiency: Utilizes all appropriate, available and relevant technology to ensure duties are performed effectively.

Work may involve lifting, moving or carrying objects as much as 75 pounds. Considerable walking, climbing, standing, sitting, bending, kneeling, reaching, grasping and holding may be required as a normal part of the job. Vision and hearing must be acceptable to acquire the required driver’s license and operate a motor vehicle. Verbal communicative ability required in public contact positions.

Work Environment: Indoor and Outdoor environment, in all types of weather. Exposure to dust, fumes and traffic conditions. May work at heights of 10 feet or more above ground and in small and confined spaces. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate but may become excessively noisy at times. Will have contact with students, staff and the public.
